As we have heard in the past, Nokia (the one not bought by Microsoft) could be thinking about getting into the consumer product game themselves. Previously they had relied on their cellphone division to sell consumer products, but now that Microsoft has bought it from them, they’re going to have to come up with another way.
Previously it was suggested that Nokia could be thinking about launching products under their HERE brand, and thanks to a recent job listing, it more or less confirms it. It also confirms that Nokia is thinking about launching a “stealth product” (basically a product that has yet to be announced) in the US for the holiday season of 2014, so whatever it is we guess we won’t have to wait too long to figure it out.
Interestingly enough despite an earlier job listing that hinted at a possible Android device, this seems to be something else entirely. According to the job listing, it reads, “Under the HERE brand umbrella you will develop the full marketing mix and launch a unique consumer experience around the motivations and needs of an active outdoor lifestyle community globally.”
However this seems to be in line with earlier reports that Nokia could be thinking about getting into wearables. Previously we heard about a certain Project Crystal which is said to be a wearable device from Nokia, although at this point in time we have no idea what we might be able to expect.
In any case given that we now have a rough timeframe of when the product will be released, we guess we won’t be left wondering when Nokia will take the wraps off it. In the meantime anyone want to venture a guess as to what Nokia might have up their sleeves?
