Yup, you read that right – Nokia has finally delivered HERE Maps to Android, and it would be the Samsung Galaxy smartphone range that will benefit from this move first. HERE Maps on Android will bring along with it features such as turn-by-turn navigation for pedestrians as well as other functionalities that one would be familiar with if you happened to have used HERE before.
No doubt offline navigation would be one feature that is looked forward to, especially for those who do a whole lot of traveling and do not want to invest in a dedicated GPS navigation device, but rather, to rely on their smartphones and the device’s integrated GPS. Offline maps means you no longer have to settle for expensive data roaming bills on your Google Maps, as it gets you from point A to point B within a selected pre-saved radius for free as not a single byte is downloaded. Just make sure you do your homework beforehand!
It remains to be seen whether HERE Maps for Android will appear on other brands that run on the Android platform. [Press Release]
