Just about every smartphone OEM out there as a high-end flagship smartphone. Samsung has the Galaxy S5, LG has the LG G3, Apple has the iPhone 5s (and soon the iPhone 6), HTC has the HTC One M8, and so on, but what about BlackBerry? Can fans expect the Canadian company to release a high-end all-touch BlackBerry smartphone by the end of the year?
Unfortunately if you were hoping that they would, you could be in for some disappointment because according to N4BB, that will not be happening. Lucas Atkins of N4BB claims that according to a BlackBerry 2014 Global Roadmap that he has managed to get his hands on, there is apparently no high-end all-touch BlackBerry smartphone slated for 2014.
He goes on to state that at the moment, BlackBerry has plans for four devices, with each device falling into a specific category/market that the company is trying to target, such as Affordable, Classic, Innovative, and Prestige. The “Affordable” device would be the BlackBerry Z3 which is aimed at markets such as Indonesia.
Classic would be the BlackBerry Q20 which is targeted at customers who love the original design of BlackBerry handsets. Innovative would be the BlackBerry Passport which is aimed at business execs, and last but not least is the Prestige which would be the BlackBerry Porsche Design P’9983 which is aimed at the “affluent and wealthy”.
This isn’t to say that BlackBerry has no plans for a high-end all-touch handset, it’s just that for 2014, that does not appear to be the case. BlackBerry has yet to confirm or deny this report so be sure to take it with a grain of salt for now, but in the meantime are any BlackBerry fans a little disappointed by this?
