Earlier this year Minecraft creator confirmed that the title would be making its way to next generation consoles, Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Currently its ironing out the kinks ahead of the release however no official release date has been announced as yet. A new report claims that Minecraft: Xbox One Edition release might take place on August 19th, this according to someone who was told about the physical release by a GameStop representative.

RoosterRider80 posted this first on the Minecraft Forum, claiming that he had received the information from a representative at his local GameStop. He also claims to have received a print out of all the upcoming titles for the Xbox One. That list pegs the release date at August 19th, merely a fortnight away.

Before the title can be released for gamers it must pass a certification process which may take up to two weeks. Both Microsoft and Sony will conduct the process at their end so it can’t be said for sure if Minecraft: PlayStation 4 Edition will also be released on August 19th. Even if it doesn’t it shouldn’t take a lot of time for the title to make its way on Sony’s console.

There has been no word about the release from the game’s creators. The latest update that came in was about fixing bugs on Minecraft for Xbox One, PS4 and PS Vita, though 4J Studios did promise that it will inform fans once the game is pushed to certification testing teams.
