LG G Watch R Revealed

lg-watch-rIt was earlier this morning that we were talking about how LG hinted at a round smartwatch in a new teaser image, and here we are with the official reveal of the LG G Watch R, which we are quite sure will make an appearance over at IFA 2014 in Berlin, Germany, early next month. One can also assume that this is a response to Samsung’s Gear S timepiece, going to show how competitive both South Korean companies are.

The LG G Watch R is touted to be the world’s first watch-style wearable device that will boast of a circular Plastic OLED (P-OLED) display, where it will make use of every single bit (that’s 100% for you) of its watch face. This 1.3” full circle P-OLED display will be able to deliver stunning image clarity despite being under bright sunlight, not to mention having superb clarity when viewed from any angle. It will run on a powerful 1.2GHz Snapdragon 400 processor, accompanied by 4GB of internal memory, 512MB RAM and a 410mAh battery.

Running on Android Wear, this means the LG G Watch R will play nice with all other compatible apps that are available in the Google Play Store. Not only that, there is also an Ingress Protection Rating of IP67, which means the LG G Watch R can even go swimming with you, as it has been designed to run for up to 30 minutes in one meter of water without drowning. There is no word on pricing as at press time, but it ought to hit key markets early in the fourth quarter of this year. [Press Release]
