Instagram was launched over four years ago and it is now one of the most widely used online services for sharing pictures around the world. The company was acquired by Facebook and even under the social network Instagram retains its independent brand. Instagram today announced the launch of Hyperlapse, an app that will enable users to create high quality time lapse videos even in motion, so there will be no need to hold the smartphone firm as the user films.
Hyperlapse has been developed keeping in mind Instagram’s priorities which includes creating simple and powerful tools that allow users to express creativity and capture moments, at least that’s what the company says. It claims that Hyperlapse has been developed to be “as simple as possible,” an account is not needed to use the new app.
When launched the app opens straight to the camera where users can tap once to start recording and tap again to stop. Playback speeds between 1x-12x can be chosen and tapping on the green check mark saves the final time lapse video to the camera roll, from where it can be shared to Instagram.
It features built-in stabilization technology which would reduce shakiness that is almost always evident in videos recorded using a smartphone. The Hyperlapse app is now available for iOS right now, Instagram has not revealed when it will be released for Android as well.
