htconem8-windowsEarlier today, Verizon officially took the wraps off the HTC One M8 for Windows. Given Verizon’s announcement, it seemed like the carrier had an exclusive on the handset and while that is true, customers not on Verizon will be pleased to learn that the exclusivity will be a timed one and that the handset will eventually make its way onto other carriers.

This was confirmed by HTC to the folks at The Next Web where Jason Mackenzie, the President of HTC Americas was quoted as saying, “Verizon is our exclusive launch partner, but our goal is to ultimately extend this product to even more customers later this year.” Unfortunately no specific dates were mentioned, but hopefully non-Verizon customers won’t have to wait too long.

Given that we only have about four and a half months till end of the year, we guess the waiting period shouldn’t be too long. For those who missed our coverage from earlier today, the HTC One M8 for Windows is essentially the same phone as its Android counterpart, the HTC One M8. This means that users can look forward to the same specs, with the main difference being that it runs on Windows Phone.

Features like the BoomSound front-facing stereo speakers, BlinkFeed, and Duo Camera UltraPixel setup can all be expected. So, who else is looking forward to getting their hands on the HTC One M8 for Windows?
