hitchBOT arrived at Mile Zero, which is the predetermined final destination, and the end goal of its three-week journey from Halifax to Victoria, where she was caught wore owl earrings from the Pauquachin nation, not to mention red spinner feathers from the Songhees nation, as well as a tiara from the Empress hotel, in addition to signatures from numerous humans as it trekked across Canada.
Steve Sxwithul’txw, hitchBOT’s chaperone for the day, shared, “It’s been a long day, but it’s been a day of joy.” The hitchBOT happened to be an art piece by researchers David Harris Smith and Frauke Zeller in Ontario, and throughout its journey from Halifax on July 26, it has traveled nowhere else but west. I don’t suppose that one can say that this is an unqualified success, especially for an unprecedented “experiment”, if you can call it that, like this? We do wonder how the hitchBOT will fare in other countries.
