Earlier this year, a game by the name of Flappy Bird was making waves around the world due to its simple nature but strange addictiveness. For a brief period in time, your Facebook News Feed would be flooded by friends and family members posting their Flappy Bird scores, taunting you to try and beat them.
The game was removed, but its creator, Dong Nguyen, later revealed that he would be making a return in August, and sure enough he has kept to his word. Flappy Bird is now back, although it is called Flappy Birds Family and oddly enough, it seems to have launched exclusively on the Amazon Fire TV.
We can’t be sure if Nguyen had intentionally meant for it to be an exclusive for Amazon’s Fire TV, perhaps out of a deal he made with Amazon, or if it is just the first step before he begins rolling out the game to other platforms and devices. However in the meantime while we wait for that to happen, Nguyen has made some changes to the game we’ve all come to know and love (or hate).
For starters there will be ghost enemies that players have to avoid in addition to the green pipes, and as promised, there is a multiplayer mode where two players can play the game at once, at least in local co-op mode. The folks at Kotaku have managed to get their hands on the game and released a video showing it off, so if you’re wondering what the fuss is about, check out the video above for the details, or if you have a Fire TV, go download it yourself!
