There has been a lot of Windows Phone activity recently, with Microsoft finally pushing out version 8.1 to users and even seeding the very first major update for Windows Phone 8.1 to developer preview users. Its only fitting that users get a brand new experience from an app that they’re likely to use multiple times a day. The official Facebook for Windows Phone app has received a major update which not only brings a handful of new features but also includes changes to the user interface.
Most of the changes that have made their way in this app come from the beta version of the Facebook for Windows Phone app. The beta app was updated a couple of months ago with these features and now they finally make their way to the public channel. Faster and more reliable connections are promised with a much more refined and faster user experience.
The app receives support for quite a few additional languages and it also supports integration with the standalone Facebook Messenger for Windows Phone. The social network has broken off the messaging app from its core app across all of the major mobile platforms its available on.
Facebook for WP will connect direct with People Hub on devices running Windows Phone 8.1. Users also get the ability to upload videos taken with their device straight through the app. On WP8.1 Facebook contacts, events and photo albums will now be powered by the updated app.
Those who already have the app will receive a notification for update, those who don’t can download it right now from the Windows Phone Store.
