Blizzard has never really had any problems rolling out patches to its games. After all gamers are required to connect to Battle.net to play, meaning that if there is a patch, Blizzard can easily roll it out there and then. On console however, that is another story, but it seems that in a recent post by Blizzard, Diablo 3 on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One can expected to receive its patches in a timely manner.
This was revealed by Blizzard on the PlayStation Blog where they wrote, “The next-gen console architecture makes it much easier for us to offer ongoing patch support for the PS4 version of the Ultimate Evil Edition. This means that as we continue to patch the game on PC, we’ll now be able to roll out related patch content, as appropriate, on PS4 as well.”
They also wrote a post on the Xbox Wire where they said, “When we started on this adventure, we thought we’d never be able to do updates on the console side in the same way we do with the PC. This allows us to be more responsive to our customers.” However in both cases, Blizzard stopped short of promising simultaneous updates.
Instead Blizzard suggested that the patches will come in a more timely manner after the PC release, but they did mention that their goal is to eventually make update releases simultaneous. This is good news for console gamers who might have been worried about having to wait a long time to get updates, but what do you guys think? Has this convinced you to get your hands on the console version?
