Asus confirmed earlier this year that it will be launching an Android Wear smartwatch. Google’s new platform for wearable devices was unveiled earlier this year, LG and Samsung already have their products out, Motorola will be following suit soon. Asus claimed that its smartwatch would be available at a lower price point thus it will undercut competing products on price alone. As IFA 2014 approaches the company has taken to Twitter to tease its upcoming smartwatch.
IFA 2014 kicks off in the first week of September in Berlin. Major manufacturers are going to unveil new smartphones and some even tablets, a recent rumor claimed that perhaps the second generation Android Wear powered LG G Watch 2 may also be unveiled during IFA.
The teaser image Asus posted on Twitter reads that “time has been transformed and we have changed.” It also reveals the announcement date, September 3rd. According to reports this smartwatch may cost between $99 and $149 and have an AMOLED display.
Presumably the smartwatch will hit the market in September, around the same time that Motorola comes out with its Moto 360, which is viewed as one of the most beautiful smartwatches ever designed. No doubt Asus will have tough competition right off the bat so it will be interesting to see how its new wearable device performs.
