There appears to be consensus in the rumor mill right now that Apple has scheduled the iPhone 6 announcement for September 9th. It was expected that the event would take place in this month since that’s when Apple traditionally shows off new iPhones. This time around it is believed to have a special surprise for us all, and while it might unveil both new iPhones at once, the 5.5-inch model isn’t going to be released until at least a month later, as per a new report.

You would have probably heard by now that two iPhone 6 models are expected this year, one is believed to have a 4.7-inch display and the other a 5.5-inch display. This would be the first time that Apple’s has increased the display size this significantly on its smartphone ever since it first came out back in 2007.

Citing a source with knowledge of the company’s plans VentureBeat reports that the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 is likely to be released at least several weeks to a month after the actual announcement. The 4.7-inch iPhone 6 may hit the market only a week after the announcement, following the same pattern as previous iPhones.

The report doesn’t give any specific reason as to why Apple would space out the launch of the two new iPhones. We have heard chatter about production issues related to the 5.5-inch iPhone 6, perhaps they might be playing a part in this, but it can’t be said for sure at this point in time.
