According to Zeng Xuezhong, who happens to be ZTE’s head of mobile device business, he said, “Some consumers may prefer Google Now Launcher. We are trying to give users more options.” It is widely expected for ZTE to sell approximately 20 million smartphones in China alone this year, while citing similar expectations for the US market as well.
ZTE intends to introduce additional Google Play Edition smartphones down the road, but in those models, they will run on the MiFlavor overlay. As for its high end ZTE Nubia Z7 that was announced earlier this month in its home market, that particular smartphone remains to be seen whether it will eventually make its way to the US market or not. Would you like your device to arrive with an overlay, or would you like to see it arrive in stock Android?
