I just realized that Xiaomi’s naming convention of calling their smartphones “Mi” could be a codename for “Mission Impossible”, considering how the smartphone market is already so established at the moment. Who knows, right? But I digress – word has it that Xiaomi has plans to roll out their upcoming flagship, calling it the Xiaomi Mi4, this coming July 22nd.
The Xiaomi Mi4 will take off from where its predecessor, the Xiaomi M3, left off. The latter happens to be the first Tegra 4-powered smartphone in the world, and it looks like the Xiaomi Mi4 is not going to be a pushover either based on whispers that have been making their rounds on the Internet so far. There could be a possible 13MP camera on the Xiaomi Mi4 when it arrives that sports a Sony sensor, or so that is what we have heard.
While Xiaomi is based in China, the company has already taken the necessary steps to branch out into other markets. It remains to be seen as to whether Xiaomi will break into the U.S. market down the road, but when you think about it, the potential market in China alone eclipses that of the U.S. market many times over by virtue of its growing middle class.
