While there were whispers going around last week that pointed to the possibility of folks bidding adieu to the likes of Xbox Music and Xbox Video services, it was encouraging to see Microsoft’s Joe Belfiore take decisive action by denouncing the whispers concerning such a plan, touting that these services will remain as ‘key scenarios’ when it comes to Microsoft’s broader strategy to the open market. Having said that, Microsoft backed up Belfiore’s encouragement by rolling out a new update for the Xbox Video app for Windows 8.1.
The latest Xbox Video for Windows 8.1 will be accompanied by a complete redesign of the user interface. This new look will definitely go hand in hand with the design of the Xbox Music app which was originally revealed more than a year back, which means we will say goodbye to the seemingly dull styling. Apart from that, the design will also be able to look in tandem alongside the XboxVideo.com site, hence users will be more comfortable with this consistency in user experience, whether they are using the app or browsing it through the Web.
Similar to Xbox Music, the new Xbox Video app will place top-level navigation into a bar that is located on the left. This bar will feature links to your Collection, the Film and TV Stores, and a Search box.
