A couple of days back we reported on a new app for Android Wear that takes the pain out of launching apps on smartwatches that are powered by this nascent platform. Only Samsung and LG have released Android Wear smartwatches as yet and unlike Android smartphones and tablets they have no control over the user interface. Google will retain sole control of the software. The Wear Mini Launcher fixed one of the most annoying things about the platform and now an update has been pushed out which makes it even better.
Initial reports had indicated that Samsung Gear Live owners were not really having a good experience with the Wear Mini Launcher on their smartwatch. The latest update pushed out for this app fixes issues for them and ensures that Gear Live users get a smooth user experience as well.
A quick shortcut for brightness control is a welcome addition to Wear Mini Launcher, which is quickly becoming one of the most popular apps for Android Wear smartwatches. It adds the shortcut in the app list and thus the user can simply use a slider to control the display’s brightness.
The update also brings a plethora of bug fixes for the app, making it much more stable than before. No doubt it fixes many of the complaints that early adopters have had with Android Wear. It may serve Google’s own interests to add these features directly in Android Wear via future updates.
Wear Mini Launcher is available for download through the Google Play Store.
