If a leaked video today is any hint then it appears that Tekken 7 is currently under development. A video from IGN News was spotted on AOL Video which basically saw Bandai Namco Games announce that its developing Tekken 7 and that this title uses Unreal Engine 4. Its possible that the official announcement might come later today at the EVO 2014 event that took place over the weekend in Las Vegas.
Unfortunately the video has been removed so it can no longer been seen. Bandai Namco hasn’t confirmed or denied anything as yet so perhaps we might have to wait until later in the day to hear something from it. Until then take this with a grain of salt.
Series Executive Producer and Game Director Katsuhiro Harada is quoted to have said that with Unreal Engine 4 they can achieve “visual quality expected on next-gen platforms and go beyond it,” apparently adding that the engine allows them to “immediately bring Tekken 7 to any platform we desire.”
As previously mentioned the publisher Bandai Namco is yet to officially reveal when Tekken 7 will actually be released and name the platforms it will be available on. Harada did say earlier this year that he’s working on multiple new projects and that a couple of them would be unveiled this year. Is Tekken 7 going to be one of those projects? We might find out soon enough.
