The stream will start at 7PM PT/10PM ET and will be streamed live from Ibiza, Spain. This will mark Aoki’s first broadcast on Twitch. So why the switch from video games to live music? Well according to the folks at Twitch, this is based on a user survey where they found that 80% of Twitch viewers wouldn’t mind watching live music on Twitch as well as video games.
According to Twitch’s COO, Kevin Lin, “We pride ourselves on listening to both the wants and needs of our community and then working to implement these requests. Since live music is something a lot of our users have requested, it will be interesting to test these waters with a popular artist like Steve Aoki.”
We have to wonder if this change in direction could have been influenced by Google as well, who had reportedly acquired the company (although neither side has confirmed it yet), but either way if you’re a fan of Steve Aoki or you just want to see what live music streaming via Twitch could be like, be sure to keep an eye out for the live stream which will be kicking off today.
