skype-for-android-fireHeads up Amazon Fire Phone owners, if you were wondering when Skype for the Fire Phone would be released, you will be pleased to learn that Skype has recently announced that their messaging app has been made available for the Fire Phone. According to them, the app is “pre-entitled”, which presumably means that it has been preinstalled on the phone, so you won’t have to search for it or download it when you get your hands the device.

That being said, we should point out that Skype for the Fire Phone is not the same version of Skype that is available on Android or the Amazon Kindle Fire HDX tablet despite that fact that both devices run a forked version of Android. Nope, instead the version of Skype for the Fire Phone has been optimized for the handset.

It will take advantage of the Fire Phone’s user interface and will be getting a new 3D icon and notification badge that uses the handset’s Dynamic Perspective technology. According to Skype, “We have enhanced our Skype for Android application to bring a more intuitive user experience that is consistent with the Fire phone look and feel.”

Amazon’s Fire Phone has yet to be released to the masses, but when it does, we’re guessing that the Skype app will be one of the apps that you can look forward to.
