Samsung Shoots Sunrise To Sunset Film On Galaxy S5
The mobile phone has certainly come a long way since it was first introduced to the market a few decades ago. From the advent of text messaging, moving to the introduction of color displays as well as Bluetooth connectivity, it has been a constant evolution. Touchscreen displays begun to dominate with the introduction of the iPhone in 2007, and fast forward to today, just about all smartphones come with a decent camera built right into it. Well, the
Samsung Galaxy S5 does have a pretty impressive camera sensor, and it has been used to record an entire short film known as ‘Sunrise to Sunset’.
The Galaxy S5’s 16MP shooter has a relatively large, 1/2.6” sensor that boasts of a native aspect ratio of 16:9, in addition to an aperture of F2.2, allowing it to function as a camcorder par excellence, never mind that it misses out on optical image stabilization. In fact, the ISOCELL camera has the ability to record 4K footage with 30fps, all the while supporting real-time HDR video, and in the video above that was shot in Trieste, Italy, it was all done in 1080p HDR goodness.
This is not the first time a commercial attempt has been made using a regular smartphone instead of high end camcorders, and neither does it look to be the last, too.
