Slightly Mad Studios is a game developer based in the UK that launched its very own crowdfunding platform some three years ago. It was able to raise $5 million for Project Cars, a game that currently have a 85,000 strong player community. The game is now set for a November release, a month when a couple of triple-AAA racing titles like DriveClub and The Crew are slated for release. It will to retail since Bandai Namco has picked it up for full distribution.
Project Cars’ creative director Andy Tudor says that the team behind this title has set out to create the “most authentic” driving experience on the planet. The team consists of veteran game developers have have worked on titles like GTR and GT Legends.
This is the same studio that was behind Need for Speed: Shift 1 and Shift 2: Unleashed so there’s no doubt that they are well equipped to make a racing title. Tudor says that Project Cars is a “culmination of all our experience and skills as a team.”
Come November, Bandai Namco is going to release Project Cars for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Windows PC and the Wii U. It hasn’t been revealed right now how much the title will cost when it finally goes on sale. There are already a plethora of gameplay videos available on YouTube if you’re curious how this stacks up against the likes of DriveClub, go ahead and check them out.
