Sometimes we come across projects on Kickstarter which sound like great ideas, but oddly enough can’t seem to generate enough interest to get funded. We also come across projects which seem simple, but yet manage to surpass its Kickstarter goal several times over. Well over the weekend it seems that one Kickstarter project has been getting a fair amount of attention, and that is a Kickstarter project for potato salad.
No, potato salad is not the codename for fancy new product full of hi-tech wizardry. It really is for potato salad. The project’s creator, Zack Danger Brown, basically create the idea of a crowdfunded potato salad where his goal was $10. The project has since managed to raise $5,000, making it exceed its original goal by 500 times, or 50,000% of its original goal! Perhaps it’s the absurdity of it and the hilarious rewards that allowed people to contribute towards an otherwise inane project.
For example a pledge of $5 will net the user a “deluxe package”. “Choose a potato-salad-appropriate ingredient to add to the potato salad, receive a bite of the potato salad, a photo of me making the potato salad, a ‘thank you’ posted to our website and I will say your name out loud while making the potato salad.”
We guess Zack Danger Brown did not anticipate his project to receive this much money or this much attention and has since announced that he would be hosting a potato salad party. He claims that he will be renting out a party hall and basically everyone will be invited to attend, especially if you love potato salad. We’re not sure how much of a joke this is, but it is pretty hilarious and if you’d like to find out more or have Zack say your name while he makes a potato salad, head on over to its Kickstarter page for the details.
