When the world of PDAs and mobile phones came together in the form of the Palm Treo, the world was amazed at how both devices managed to cross their respective borders and arrived at a “mutual understanding”, resulting in a smartphone. Well, having a hybrid car and motorcycle might be a whole lot more trickier than creating a smartphone, but Polaris’ Slingshot is certainly a great example.
The Slingshot happens to be a three-wheeled vehicle, where this particular street machine is an amalgamation of ATVs, motorcycles, side-by-sides, and snowmobiles. Needless to say, the Slingshot will target those who love an adrenaline pumping time and yet would like a certain semblance of protection to boot. Edgy, anime-like body panels are wrapped around a tube-framed chassis, where right up front one will be able to find a double-wishbone suspension accompanied by coil-over shocks and a sway bar.
A 2.4-liter, four-cylinder engine will be able to churn out 173hp of power to the rear wheel, where the driver would use the power-assisted steering wheel to move around, complete with five gears and a manual shifter. It will retail for a relatively expensive $19,999 Slingshot, as it boasts a bunch of automotive conveniences including lateral seating, stability control, antilock brakes, and a glove box.
