Earlier this week it was rumored that OnePlus is working on a tablet, its very first, which is going to be released later this year. A screenshot from the company’s purported “alpha website” was also leaked online which showed off the under-development tablet. The company has released an official statement regarding this rumors, putting them to rest once and for all. OnePlus Tab rumors are false, it says, adding that the company has no plans to make a tablet in 2014.
Founded by an ex-Oppo executive OnePlus is a new kid on the block. Its first smartphone, the OnePlus One, was unveiled a few months back and is struggling to make it way to customers. It has already been delayed twice and the company is working to ensure that those who have placed their orders get units soon.
OnePlus says that it is putting all of its energy into the OnePlus One smartphone for what’s left of this year. It doesn’t flat out deny that at some point in the future it might develop a tablet. The company subscribes to the “flagship killer” philosophy and it aims to offer high-end specifications for a competitive price. It is more than likely that its tablet could be built with the same philosophy in mind.
For now though there’s no need to hold out for the OnePlus Tab, it is not coming anytime soon.
