Well the good news is that if you’re the owner of the OnePlus One handset, you will be eligible for the update upon its release. This was confirmed by OnePlus themselves on their forums where they said that they hope to release the update within 3 months of Google releasing it to the public.
“Well, we’re keen to announce today that the OnePlus One will indeed be getting the L treatment. When, you ask? That depends on Google. We promise to have it done within three months of their releasing a final build.” As it stands there is no fixed release date for Android L yet. The update is currently in its Developer Preview, so it could be a few more months before it is ready to be released to the masses.
In any case it is a good sign by the new that they are planning on keeping their users up to date. We guess this is more or less to be expected, given that the handset is running on a special build of CyanogenMod, a ROM for Android devices that users used to turn to when their OEMs were slow on updates or did not include features that they wanted.
