One Microsoft Could Be Microsoft’s Unification Of Their Operating Systems

Prior to Windows 8, Windows 7 and Windows Phone looked nothing like each other, although we began to see some similarities with Windows 8, thanks to the tiled user interface. However could Microsoft’s decision to kill off Nokia’s Android lineup and feature phones be part of a bigger plan to unify their operating systems?

While that remains to be seen, a recent job listing spotted on Microsoft’s website (as discovered by @h0x0d) seems to suggest that Microsoft could be thinking about unifying their operating systems across the board, such as Xbox, Windows, and Windows Phone, under the “One Microsoft” banner.

According to the job description, it reads, “The XAML team is building the UI framework at the core of the “One Microsoft” OS. Our framework is used by hundreds of thousands of developers, including many teams at Microsoft.” It later adds, “Enabling developers to create UI that works well across all of our devices: phones, tablets, PCs, and the Xbox.”

It’s an interesting idea and one that’s not a stretch of the imagination. This is something that Apple has been working towards, in a way. For example they started including more iOS-like features in OS X, and with iOS 8 and OS X 10.10 Yosemite, both platforms are expected to be even more in sync than before, but what say you?
