Nokia Lumia 1020 End Of Life Status Pegged For 15th October Instead [Rumor]

According to a rumor we heard yesterday, word had it that the Nokia Lumia 1020 had been pegged for an end of life status on the 14th of September. However according to a recent report from Windows Phone Central, they have learnt from their sources that the end of life date is actually the 15th of October. We’re not sure if Microsoft had decided to push back the date or if the original rumor was wrong to begin with.

For those who are unclear about end of life status, this basically means that Microsoft will no longer be officially selling the device from their stores or websites. There will probably be handful of units left at third-party retailers and online via eBay and Craigslist, but if you wanted to get it through an official channel, you would be out of luck once the device has reached its end of life status.

The Nokia Lumia 1020 was launched in 2013 we so guess it is about time that Microsoft introduces a newer version, although interestingly enough we haven’t really heard any rumors about a possible successor, but there are talks about a Nokia McLaren that might be it. The end of life status does not mean that Microsoft will stop supporting the device.

That is expected to continue for a while, although to what extent remains to be seen. In any case take it with a grain of salt for now, but we’ll be keeping our eyes and ears peeled for more information regarding the end of life status as well as the possibility of a successor, so check back with us at a later date for the details.
