Earlier it was reported that Microsoft had begun rolling out the Windows Phone 8.1 update to those who have the Developer Preview, as well as to owners of the Nokia Lumia 625 and Lumia 925. That being said, it looks like the rollout of the update has since been halted. This is apparently due to some issues experienced by Windows Phone 8 users who use BitLocker to upgraded to Windows Phone 8.1.
According to a statement issued by Microsoft, “We are currently investigating the issue. We have paused delivery of the update to customers using the Preview for Developers, and will resume once a fix is in place. Customers whose phones have been affected should use the Nokia Software Recovery Tool to return your Lumia to a normal commercial software state before downloading the Lumia Cyan update.”
As it stands it would seem that those who own the Developer Preview of Windows Phone 8.1 will just have to wait until Microsoft can fix the issue and continue the rollout. Alternatively they are welcome to rollback to Windows Phone 8 using the Nokia Software Recovery Tool and then update to Windows Phone 8.1. It’s a bit convoluted but if you absolutely have to have the update, then we guess this is one way to do it.
In any case we’ll be keeping our eyes peeled for more information regarding the update’s status, so do check back with us at a later date for the details.
