So why is this? Well Apple’s new CFO, Luca Maestri offered his analysis where he said that the drop in iPad sales was attributed to the slowdown in the market in both the US and Western Europe. However did point out that countries such as China saw an increase in iPad sales where it grew by 51%, and also in India where it grew by 45%, although we’re guessing it probably wasn’t enough to counter-balance the overall dip.
However as far as Apple’s CEO Tim Cook was concerned, he believes that the drop in iPad sales was due to the anticipation of new iPads that were coming in the fall. Now we know that Apple refreshes their iPads every year, so this is hardly a secret. According to Cook, he states that due to customers anticipating new tablets, they held on purchasing the current models which could explain the decline in sales.
So far from what we know, the new iPads are expected to be pretty significant in their refreshes. Both the iPad and iPad mini are said to gain the Touch ID fingerprint sensor, similar to the one on the iPhone 5s. The iPad mini is also rumored to be 30% thinner than its predecessor. In any case what do you guys think? Do you agree that anticipation is what could have caused a decline in iPad sales?
