If the rumors are to be believed and if Apple keeps to schedule, it seems that yes, we can expect Apple to release a new iPad mini later this year, possibly with the Touch ID fingerprint sensor included. That being said, renowned designer Martin Hajek, who has in the past created some pretty awesome iPhone/iPad mockups, has come up with a new concept rendering of the third-gen iPad mini.
Upon first glance, it looks a lot like the current iPad mini, however the main difference could be its edges, which Hajek refers to as “soft design”. Basically with the current iPad mini, the edges of the tablet are tapered. However with Hajek’s soft design, the edges are more rounded, which in a way is the same design language that is used with the iPhone 6, or at least that’s what the leaks seem to suggest.
You can see the comparison in the rendering above, with the current iPad mini pictured above (although he has added Touch ID to it) and the the soft design version below. It’s not a radical change but it certainly fits in with how the iPhone 6 is supposed to look like. Of course there’s no telling if Apple will be using the same design language, or if they will be updating the design at all, but what do you guys think? Are you digging this soft design iPad mini look?
