This seems to have been confirmed by the folks at 9to5Mac who claims that their sources have revealed to them that iOS 8 and OS X 10.10 Yosemite will launch at different times. The former is expected to see a release in September, while the latter will launch a month later. Why is this a big deal?
Well apparently there were some who believed that both iOS 8 and Yosemite would launch at the same time. This is because both iOS 8 and Yosemite feature even tighter integration than before, like the Handoff feature that more or less syncs what you’re doing on your computer with your phone and vice versa.
So by launching both at the same time, current iOS and OS X users will be able to experience said integration right off the bat, but we guess that won’t be happening. Either way like we said earlier, this seems to be keeping with Apple’s tradition of launching both platforms at separate dates, but we’ll keep our eyes peeled for more information anyway.
