A few months ago, HTC announced the HTC Desire 516. Unlike the HTC One series of smartphones, the HTC Desire lineup tends to be more of a low-mid range offering, which is great for customers who are shopping on a budget. That being said, the Desire 516 appeared to be limited to the Chinese market at the start, but the good news is that it looks like it will soon start making its way to Europe.
According to HTC Germany, the company has announced that the HTC Desire 516 will soon make its way across Europe in August, starting with countries such as Austria and Switzerland. The handset will be priced at €199 unlocked, which is roughly $270 when converted, making it a pretty value-for-money purchase.
It has also been suggested that the phone could make its way to India at a later date. Unfortunately it was not mentioned if the HTC Desire 516 will be arriving in other markets, so we guess we’ll just have to keep our eyes peeled for it. In the meantime it looks like the HTC Desire 610 could be making its way onto AT&T, so perhaps that could be an alternative for customers in the US.
In the meantime for those wondering about its specs, the HTC Desire 516 will feature a 5-inch qHD display. It will be powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 processor clocked at 1.2GHz, and will be accompanied by 1GB of RAM and 4GB of onboard storage. It will also feature a 5MP rear-facing camera, a 2MP front-facing camera, and unfortunately it looks like it will run on Android Jelly Bean, as opposed to Android 4.4 KitKat.
