As we have pointed out many times in the past, more megapixels on a camera does not necessarily translate into better photographs. Understanding how to compose a shot, using lighting to your advantage, and generally having interesting subjects will result in a more entertaining photograph.
However at the same time, we understand the need for megapixels as it does result in slightly more detailed photos, not to mention some professionals need high-res photos for huge print jobs, which a 5MP camera will most probably won’t be able to get the job done. That being said, could a high-resolution Canon camera be on its way?
Well in a recent interview with Japanese website, DC.Watch, it has been implied by Canon representatives that a high-res Canon EOS camera could be in the works. According to the interview (which was directly translated), Canon states, “By super-wide-angle zoom image quality is good came out to the periphery, and we look forward to the advent of high-resolution model of the EOS.”
As it stands, Nikon has recently announced a high-res camera of their own in the Nikon D810 where it sports a whopping 36.3MP. As it stands, Canon’s high-end professional camera, the EOS 5D MK III only sports a megapixel count of 22MP. However according to previous rumors, Canon is said to be working on a new camera with a high megapixel count, but hopefully based on the recent statement that we can expect to see its launch soon.
