With Google Maps belonging to Google, it is understandable that Google would push out updates for its Android platform first before updating its other platforms, such as iOS. Well the good news for iOS users is that if you were hoping to gain more Google Maps functionality, you might be pleased to learn that Google has recently updated its Google Maps app for iOS.
The update doesn’t exactly bring about groundbreaking new features, but will offer up conveniences to users that will hopefully make the app’s usage a lot better. For starters the updated app will now display search results with the descriptions directly on the map itself. It will also allow users the option of switching between grid and map view, which will make finding the place a lot easier.
Google has also made some slight changes to the Explore feature which basically helps to guide the user on where to go and what to do, depending on the time and location that you’re in, which we reckon will come in handy when used overseas in a foreign country that you’re not familiar with. Google has also added more Gmail integration so that your reservations and events that you labelled in Gmail will be display on the maps as well.
The update should be available from the iTunes App Store. Alternatively if you have yet to download Google Maps for iOS on your iPhone/iPad, you can do so by heading on over to the iTunes App Store for the free download.
