Formal Doom Reveal Will Most Likely Happen In 2015

doom-e3-teaserSo we know that Bethesda is working on a new Doom game. In fact last we heard, footage from the game was actually shown off behind closed doors to attendees at QuakeCon, sort of like a thank you for coming, as opposed to uploading a video and sharing it across the internet. That being said, can we look forward to an unveiling later this year?

Well if you were hoping that is the case, you would be mistaken. According to PC Gamer who spoke to Bethesda’s Pete Hines, there will most probably not be a Doom reveal this year. This is apparently because they feel that the game is not yet ready for a formal announcement. Bethesda is working with id Software to develop the game and it seems that even the footage they planned to show at QuakeCon was met with some resistance at first.

According to Hines, “We’re working with them to say, ‘How does this work? What do we want to show?’ And they’re like, ‘Look, we don’t want a stream to go up for a game that isn’t at the point where we would formally show it to the world, and now that thing is getting picked apart, and digested, and gone through frame-by-frame and getting nitpicked to death, when normally we wouldn’t be showing this to anybody at all.’”

So when can we expect a Doom reveal then? Hines believes that it will most probably happen in 2015, and even then he mentioned that plans could change. So assuming that the game is officially revealed in 2015, it could also mean that we might have to wait until later in the year before its released, or even wait until 2016, yikes! In any case we’ll be keeping our eyes peeled for more Doom-related news, so do check back with us at a later date for the details.
