While Windows Phone 8.1 is slowly making its way out to Windows Phone users around the world, there are a bunch of people who aren’t able to update yet. These are the users who had installed the Developer Preview of Windows Phone 8.1, and due to issues with BitLocker, the update is unable to be installed by them.
Now the good news is that Microsoft has finally addressed the problem and they are expected to be able to update to the latest version no problem starting next week. This was recently confirmed by Microsoft’s Joe Belfiore in a tweet. A user had asked Belfiore if he had to downgrade to Windows Phone 8 before he could update to Windows Phone 8.1.
This is actually a pretty common tactic used by those with the Developer Preview versions of Windows Phone 8.1, but according to Belfiore, he told the user that he did not have to. He added that starting from next week, those who are on the Windows Phone 8.1 Developer Preview will be automatically upgraded to Windows Phone 8.1 Update 1 starting next week.
So for users who have been stuck using the Developer Preview, fret not because it looks like your problems will be solved next week, so do check back with us then as we’ll let you know when the updates have begun rolling out!
