One of the interesting features of Cortana is its ability to make predictions. So far the voice assistant for the Windows Phone platform has been consistently right when it comes to making predictions for the World Cup 2014, getting 14 correct predictions in a row so far, with the latest prediction that Argentina would be beating the Netherlands in the match that took place only a few hours ago where Argentina won 4-2.
This is pretty impressive and for those looking to place some bets in the upcoming Germany versus Argentina match, perhaps turning to Cortana for some advice might not be a bad idea (although we do not encourage it). Cortana’s streak has certainly beaten out Paul the Octopus who made eight correct guesses, but it is clear from Cortana’s 14 correct prediction streak who is the winner here.
According to a post written by the Bing team last month, “For the tournament, our models evaluate the strength of each team through a variety of factors such as previous win/loss/tie record in qualification matches and other international competitions and margin of victory in these contests, adjusted for location since home field advantage is a known bias.”
Cortana has since predicted that Germany would come out on top against Argentina so we guess we will just have to wait until then to see if Cortana can make it 15 times in a row. The match will take place on the 14th of July but what do you guys think? Any football enthusiasts would like to weigh in with their own predictions?
