Canon EOS 7D Marked As Discontinued On Amazon

7d discIt has been rumored for several years now that Canon could be working on a successor to their Canon EOS 7D camera. Unfortunately the rumored launch date keeps getting pushed back so to be honest, we still have no idea as to when Canon will be making the official announcement. However it seems that we could be getting closer this time, thanks to a listing spotted on Amazon.

The listing, spotted by Canon Rumors, is for the Canon EOS 7D and it has been labelled as discontinued. We should point out that while it is marked discontinued, there are still several third-party retailers selling it since we reckon that they still have a couple of units left in stock. However its discontinued status suggests that Canon could be looking to introduce an upgrade.

Of course it is entirely possible that Canon has discontinued the EOS 7D lineup completely, but given that the camera is a good bridge between prosumers and professionals, it seems unlikely. Last we heard, the Canon EOS 7D MK II has been rumored for an announcement in September. Word has it that there is an embargo on its announcement which is scheduled to lift at 12 midnight on the 5th of September.

Given that Photokina is also in September, it doesn’t seem like a stretch to think that Canon would take the opportunity to show off something then.
