It was four days back that Instagram’s Bolt banner (as seen above) was spotted in a leak, which more or less means that Instagram could be working on rolling out a brand new messaging app. Bolt has been touted to be a “one tap photo messaging app”, although it remains to be seen whether the app is real. However, it seems that there might be some naming issues associated with Bolt’s naming convention. Bolt Technology, Inc. happens to be a messaging app that is already in existence, where you will be able to find it on the Google Play Store.
Bolt Technology, Inc. has sent out a nicely worded letter to the folks over at Instagram, where they hope that Instagram will change the name of their upcoming app. Bolt happens to be a hybrid of sorts that lies between an Android dialer replacement as well as being a competitor to apps including the likes of Facebook Messenger and Viber.
Right now, the current Bolt app would pave the way for free calls and messaging between users, although if you were to call other numbers, it will make use of normal contract minutes. Bolt founder Andrew Benton is not too happy with this development, and hopes that Instagram will not cause any kind of confusion with users in the future – so hopefully Instagram will change the course of their ways.
