BlackBerry CEO John Chen has this to say about the purchase of Secusmart, “We are always improving our security solutions to keep up with the growing complexity of enterprise mobility, with devices being used for more critical tasks and to store more critical information, and security attacks becoming more sophisticated.”
As to how much BlackBerry paid for Secusmart, that remains a private and confidential figure, although this particular acquisition would still have to go through some potential speed bumps, regulatory approval included. Secusmart delivers high-level voice and data encryption at the highest echelons of society, ranging from governments to businesses and telecommunications service providers. Even German chancellor Angela Merkel switched to a BlackBerry Z10, prior to revelation that her Nokia handset was tapped by U.S. government officials.
