It has been a while since something positive was reported about BlackBerry. There were a lot of questions about the company’s future last year when it was put up for sale and reports indicated that there was thin interest from any potential buyers. With all that out of the way the company has set itself on a course for recovery. One of the new devices it hopes will aid that objective is the BlackBerry Passport and ever since the company showed it off it has been receiving some positive press.
BlackBerry is quick to highlight that it has got people talking about the company and its products again by previewing the Passport, that too at a time when its market share particularly in the U.S. nears extinction.
In a new blog post BlackBerry lists countless reports from major online news outlets that paint a positive picture for the Passport. Some are intrigued by the device’s rather unusual form factor which gives way to a square 1,440×1,440 pixel resolution display, the highest yet on a BB device.
The company also points out how people are excited about trying out the Passport’s keyboard, which it has already revealed doubles as a trackpad as well. It also lists reactions from social media and comments from around the web which sing praises for the upcoming device.
In all fairness though BlackBerry also writes that some publications took a much more cautious approach when reporting about the “Passport’s innovations,” and that they were “opting to defend a status quo dominated by an endless conveyor belt of entertainment-driven, homogenous devices.”
The BlackBerry Passport is destined to be released this September. Once this device hits the market only then we will be able to ascertain just how much of a success it is. BlackBerry has made no secret of the fact that it intends to woo enterprise customers with this particular device.
What do you think about the BB Passport? Do you believe it has the potential to be a winner for this company?
