However according to a recent report from VentureBeat, it has been revealed that Apple and Swatch have been working together on the iWatch, and that the partnership will result in a range of watches from “geek to chic”, or at least that’s what VentureBeat’s sources claim. While Apple does typically favor controlling the production from software to hardware, their sources claim that in this case Apple does not mind sharing the brand.
This is apparently in a bid to get their watches into as many hands as possible, which in turn could help boost iOS, iTunes, and the Health Kit ecosystem, thus allowing them to dominate the market like they used to back in the day with iTunes. It’s actually interesting to learn that Apple could potentially be working with Swatch.
Back in 2013, Swatch’s CEO expressed his disbelief that Apple’s iWatch would be the revolution we are looking for. In fact earlier this year Swatch announced their plans to fight the iWatch trademark that Apple had apparently registered, which seems a little odd if Swatch and Apple were working together.
In any case take it with a grain of salt for now, but the idea of multiple iWatch devices is not new, but as to whether the rumors come into fruition remains to be seen, but what say you?
