Android Wear Gains IFTTT Support

Android Wear is a version of Android that Google has developed specifically for wearables in mind, like the LG G Watch, the Samsung Gear Live, and the Moto 360. Now all of these devices have their uses, but it seems that their functionality could be taken to a whole new level, thanks to support from the IFTTT app.

IFTTT has recently announced that they will be introducing support for Android Wear and that there will be a dedicated Android Wear Channel in their app that users can keep an eye out for if they want new recipes or want to share new recipes. As you can see in the image above, these are some of the potential recipes that Android Wear users can look forward to.

Now for those who aren’t familiar with IFTTT, it is an app available on iOS and Android that helps automate certain features of your smartphone. For example in the screenshot above, the app allows the user to trigger certain functions just by tapping their watch, such as turning off the lights if they are using the Philips Hue light bulb, or get a notification on their watch when a friend checks in on Foursquare, or remind them that they haven’t met their calorie goals by a certain time in the day.

Recently we’ve seen how the Yo messaging app has gotten IFTTT support as well, allowing the messaging function to act like a switch to control various connected household items, like light bulbs, thermostats, and so on.
