Android Camera App Gains Remote Shutter Functionality Via Android Wear

Now we’ve seen how Android Wear can be used with the IFTTT app to help automate certain tasks, but we have to admit that Google’s recent update to their Camera app has to be one of the more clever ideas we’ve seen to date. Google has recently made some changes to their Camera app that will allow for compatibility with Android Wear.

One of the big changes is the inclusion of the remote shutter functionality. What this means is that Android users will be able to set their smartphones up on a tripod or surface, get into position, and use their Android Wear device to trigger the shutter remotely. This is actually a pretty awesome addition as it will allow for some pretty amazing photos to be taken.

Sure, there are camera apps that use timers to allow users to get into position, but having a remote shutter makes it a lot easier, not to mention it does away with awkward smiling and posing while waiting for the timer to count down.

The update to the Camera application will require users to have at least Android 4.3 or higher, and an Android Wear device, so as it stands there are might be many users who will be able to utilize this feature just yet. Either way it’s still a pretty clever addition and if you were thinking of getting your hands on an Android Wear device, like the LG G Watch, Samsung Gear Live, or the Moto 360, it is a feature you can look forward to.
