Android 4.4.4 Update Arrives For Droid Maxx, Ultra & Mini In Soak Test

While Android 4.4.4 KitKat has already arrived on the scene for the likes of the Nexus range as well as Google Play editions of select models, it has yet to arrive on the line of Motorola Droid smartphones – at least not until now, where the update is made available in the form of the latest soak test. A soak test works this way – it is basically an update of the latest operating system version that will target just a small group of users, so that just in case anything goes wrong with that particular update, work can be done to rectify whatever mistake(s) found, before it is released to the masses.

Soak tests make plenty of sense – after all, why affect a large segment of users with something that is not up to par? Apparently, the likes of the Motorola Droid Maxx, Droid Ultra and Droid Mini will be giving the Android 4.4.3 bus a miss and go all the way straight to Android 4.4.4 KitKat for folks who are part of the Motorola Feedback Network.

This particular download is rather hefty as it weighs in at 285MB, so one might want to receive it through a Wi-Fi connection instead, not to mention making sure that your battery level is up to par. Other than having the version number bumped to 4.4.4, the latest update will also deliver improved camera performance, visual voicemail fixes, and compatibility with the ISIS mobile payment.
