Well according to an alleged leaked rendering (via digi-wo), it seems that a successor could be in the works. The rendering itself appears to be a bit suspect but even in the event that it is proven to be a fake, we guess it would still make for pretty interesting discussion anyway, especially about potential specs for a possible successor.
In any case the handset has been referred to as the Xperia Z3X and boy does it pack quite a wallop. According to the rumors, Sony is said to be shrinking the display to a slightly more manageable 6.14-inches. However it will feature a 2560×1152 resolution, so combine that with the smaller display it should make for a pretty sharp viewing experience.
The handset is also rumored to be powered by Qualcomm’s 64-bit Snapdragon 810 processor which kind of makes the rumor a bit suspect, especially since the Snapdragon 805 chipsets have yet to become mainstream, let alone the 810. The handset is also said to pack a 22MP rear-facing camera and will apparently be getting DSLR-ish accessories of its own, like an external flash, which you can see in the image above.
We have to admit that all of this sounds a little outlandish, but what do you guys think? What sort of specs would you like to see in the Sony Xperia Z Ultra’s successor?
