It hasn’t been that long since Microsoft unveiled Windows Phone 8.1. A developer preview has already been released and the public roll out is expected to take place over the summer. Still there’s no official confirmation of the timeframe so Windows Phone users don’t really know when to expect the update to drop. A purported Windows Phone 8.1 release schedule for Nokia Lumia smartphones has leaked online, giving a hint of when to expect the Cyan update.
The Cyan update is Windows Phone 8.1 for Nokia that comes with a few features specific to its smartphones. Cyan will bring updates for Nokia Story Teller, Creative Studio and the camera roll alongside WP8.1. According to this leaked Windows Phone 8.1 release schedule the update is due to hit most of the Lumia smartphones in late summer.
Though it should be kept in mind that this schedule is for the Benelux region. Timing could be a bit different for other regions. However generally the company has done a good job of rolling out updates across all regions in a timely fashion so there probably won’t be that much of a delay.
Windows Phone 8.1 in itself is quite a major update. It brings Microsoft’s virtual private assistant called Cortana. A laundry list of features are also included which users are likely to appreciate.
The leaked Windows Phone 8.1 release schedule comes from @evleaks who has a pretty solid track record. These documents aren’t meant to be viewed by the public, so there’s no saying if plans are altered a bit following this development.
