We first heard about the possibility of Sony’s latest tablet making its way to Verizon last month. Unveiled at the Mobile World Congress earlier this year the Sony Xperia Z2 tablet is yet to be offered by any carrier in the U.S. It looks like Big Red might be the first one to do so. The rumors have been followed up with what appears to be a press rendering of the Verizon Sony Xperia Z2 tablet.
There have been countless rumors in the past about Verizon getting another one of Sony’s flagships. Apparently it was slated to be the only carrier to offer the Xperia Z2 smartphone but an official announcement hasn’t been made yet.
As far as the tablet is concerned there has been no confirmation from either the carrier or the company so we’ll have to wait and see if and when it launches.
Sony Xperia Z2 tablet is pretty powerful. There’s a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor under the hood coupled with 3GB of RAM. A 10.1-inch display up front offers 1,920×1,200 pixel resolution. 8.1 megapixel rear and 2.2 megapixel front cameras are also present alongside a big 6,000mAh battery. The tablet also happens to be dust and water resistant.
The leaked image only shows a Verizon logo on the back, which is likely to appeal to people who don’t want carrier branding in their face all the time. No word as yet on when an announcement is going to be made. We’ll keep our ear to the ground. [Image via @evleaks]
