Twitter has announced this on their blog and according to a post by SnappyTV, “Through this partnership, people have been able to turn to Twitter to view highlights from major events from world championships to TV and awards shows to Presidential elections, just to name a few.” The good news is that for those who do use SnappyTV’s services, it does not appear that there will be any disruptions.
This has been confirmed by Twitter themselves who wrote, “While we continue to invest in SnappyTV’s product and integrate it more tightly with Twitter, we also plan to maintain our partners’ ability to post high-quality videos to other platforms. Our goal is to help publishers quickly share great moments from events so people can experience those moments as they happen.”
For those unfamiliar with SnappyTV, it is essentially a live video platform that was founded back in 2010. The cloud-based platform allows users to upload and share TV broadcasts, and is also used by many brands and companies, some of whom are Twitter’s media partners. The acquisition will also be used to help bolster Twitter’s Amplify program.
